Art and kids are natural companions. Susan's workshops are offered privately or through the Washington State Arts Commission's Teaching Artists (fromerly Artist in Residence) program.

Recycle, Re-create | K–12
Your art can help whales, salmon and ancient forests. 
Turn scraps into sculptures, use debris in drawings and 
paintings, transform discarded signs into banners.

ABC Delirious | K–12
How did the symbol for ox turn into the letter "A"? In this class, you'll learn how the symbols of ancient marks became contemporary letterforms, our 26-letter alphabet.

Then express yourself using the alphabet. Stretch and twist letters to express an emotion or an idea, and use your manipulated letters to write poems and stories. Compile your creative writing into a handmade book you’ll make in class.

Be dazzling! Discover the power of color in a series 
of painting lessons using color palettes, patterns and 
designs from Mexico, China, Japan and Africa.
